SOLAR ELECTRIC SYSTEMS
|
Florida home owners have
experienced some of the highest energy rate hikes in the
nation in the last 5 years. Yet only hundreds of
homeowners in Florida are reaping the rewards of solar
electric systems by reducing their current and future
electric costs. FPL will soon institute a 1.2 Billion
dollar rate hike. As a solution
to these price hikes, many home owners are now turning
to Solar energy systems from All Solar Solutions as
their way of fixing or locking in their energy costs for
the next 20 + years.
A $40,000 system could cost as low as $8,000 and could
save over 90% on your electric bill.
All Solar Solutions
will do a full cost analysis of your utility bills, by
evaluating 6-12 months of statements, and educate
you on the benefits of Solar Energy systems, and help
you design the right system for your home and budget.
Also, the government currently offers two significant
financial incentives; A federal tax credit covers 30% of
the total cost and the solar energy systems incentives
program offers state rebates for solar photovoltaic
systems of $4 per watt up to a maximum of $20,000 for
homes, and $100,000 for businesses. This is significantly better than
the $2,000 cap from previous years.
Once completed, our solar
energy team will be able to generate a proposal for you
to review and select the right solar investment that best
fits your needs. We can then begin the process of
installing your new PV System.
Once installed, the system requires little or no maintenance,
since there are no batteries being used,
and will provide clean electricity for 25 to 40 years.
Our solar panels carry a 25-year manufacturer warranty
on their production.

How Solar
Electric works

1. The Sun shines
There are only a very few areas in the Southwestern
United States that get more usable sunlight per day than
south Florida. Every photovoltaic system is dependent on
its environment. Florida receives about 15% to 20% more
energy from the sun than say the Midwest or northeast
United States.
2. Modules Solar
modules mounted on the roof or grounds of your property
convert sunlight into DC power.
3. Inverter
This power is sent to a device called an inverter (or
power converter) which converts the
DC
electric created by the sun into AC electric that can be
tied into the utility grid.
4. Electrical Panel
Power travels from the inverter to your electrical
service panel (your breaker box). The power from the
electrical panel will be distributed to any electrical
loads in your home.
5. Utility Meter
When excess power is produced by the solar, the power
will flow into the grid through your electric meter.
This will cause your meter to run backwards gaining you
a credit with the utility company.
Don’t worry, the utility
company must return to you any power supplied by a
privately owned system, dollar for dollar, at no charge.
This is called being “grid tied” with your utility
company and the exchange of power is referred to as “net
metering”. Your utility company will cooperate with this
arrangement as it is the law in Florida and it is
required in order to receive the state financial
incentives. This is a good thing as you will be helping
to reduce the “load” on the overall utility system thus
reducing the need to build additional power plants and
reducing pollution from existing power plants as they
will need to run less. Further, the utility grid has
become your “battery bank” storing your excess energy
for you and returning it to you when you need it, all at
no cost to you, a good deal for everyone. |

Would you pay more for a home with lower
utility bills from solar electricity?
Solar systems lower or eliminate your energy
bills! But did you know that Solar increases
your home value too!
For every $1 you save on energy costs the
first year, your home’s value increases by
$20!
Reduce your annual energy bill by $1,000, add
$20,000 to your home’s value.

State and Federal financial incentives make
photovoltaic more affordable than ever!
The combination of the Florida State Rebate of $4
per watt from the state up to $20,000 (assuming a
5kw system - systems are available in 5kw, 3kw and
2kw systems) and the IRS investment tax credit of
30% has reduced the out of pocket cost of a
Photovoltaic system to its lowest cost ever.
Commercial installations have state rebates up to
$100,000. This is the result of changes in Federal
Tax law, which removed the maximum allowable
credit while the Florida State Rebate has remained
fixed for one more year. In our opinion this
financial picture will change when the current
Florida State legislation ends this state fiscal
year.

Solar PV electric systems come in a few
different styles.
Here is a brief explanation of
some basic combinations:
•Stand-Alone - Without a
battery back-up, this solar PV electric system can only
use energy immediately. This means it cannot be used at
night or any other time when the sun is not out.
Stand-alone systems are great for remote locations.
Oftentimes, they are used for such applications as
telecommunications and water pumping.
•Grid-tied - A basic
grid-tied system uses solar energy as it is created
(i.e. when it is sunny.) At the times when sunlight
isn’t available it will rely on the power grid. With net
metering options, households can, in essence, turn back
their meters with any additional energy that they
create.
•Grid-tied with battery
back-up - Although tied to the electric grid, the
battery storage allows solar energy to be used at any
time, including the night. Additional energy may be sold
back to the energy company, or net metering may be an
option (it depends on the particular utility company.)
This type of system will continue providing power, even
when the rest of the neighborhood is experiencing a
black-out. |

Hurricane
preparedness!
An Additional benefit for
a photovoltaic system is that, with an optional battery
bank, it can be used as an emergence power source in the
event of a power outage such as a hurricane. While it is
unlikely that you will be able to live in your home as
you do when the utility power is operational, you will
be able to do almost all daily functions and without a
loud, smelly, undependable, gas burning generator that
you operate intermittently. Under the worst of
circumstances, you may do without any power whatsoever
for days, maybe weeks. What happens if the gas stations
can’t pump gas, or gas is unavailable for whatever
reason? With a proper battery backup system and good
management of your household electrical loads, you would
be able to live comfortably.
